SIA Licence

In order to work as a security guard in London, you must hold an SIA license. Before submitting your application, you must complete training for a licence-linked qualification (including job duties such as manned guarding and key holding). This simply makes sure that you have the correct skills and understanding you need to hold a license and do the job as safely and efficiently as possible. It’s important to add that there are requirements needed to apply for an SIA licence. You must:

 

  • Be 18 years or over
  • Pass criminal record checks
  • Have the right to work in the UK
  • Have relevant documents (Passport, P45, Bank statement etc)

 

The SIA licence will cost you £184 pounds and is non-refundable if any of the above documents are incorrect. If you’re in need of more than one SIA licence, a 50% discount will be given. 

 

Career Progression

As with most sectors of employment, there is room for progression working within security. With experience, you could become a supervisor, senior or chief security officer. You can also undergo further training and qualifications to go into security management.
